Our History

GAS Global was established in the “Energy Capital of the World” and has been providing the energy industry with quality manpower solutions since 1970.

Established to offer Houston’s energy market superior job opportunities and recruitment services, since operations began, the company’s continual growth and development have been based upon its Mission, Vision, and Values. More than a staffing agency for the energy industry, GAS Global is a people-focused relationship business. Over the last 50+ years, we have developed our services to encompass more than recruiting, building key partnerships, and longstanding relationships – some of which extend more than 30 years.  

THE GLASS FAMILY  

In the 1970s, political turmoil was erupting overseas leading to the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973, and escalating efforts in the United States to promote domestic energy independence. In 1971, Shell Oil Company relocated its corporate headquarters to Houston. In the following years, over 200 major firms followed in Shell’s footsteps: company headquarters, subsidiaries, and divisions moved their operations to Houston. While motorists followed odd- or even-numbered date regulations for refueling vehicles, the national speed limit dropped to 55 mph and office buildings were raising thermostats to 78 degrees in the summer months. Houston’s energy market was expanding, and people were in high demand. 

Understanding the market and recognizing the potential for energy development, in 1970, Leo and Karen Glass established G.A.S. Unlimited (now GAS Global) in Houston, Texas, to provide a rapidly growing market with quality workforce solutions. 

Today, GAS Global is headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas, with operations in 20 countries and growing. Outside of Sugar Land, regional offices include Brazil, Canada, Romania, and Singapore. The Glass family remains active in the year-to-year success of GAS’s operations to ensure its energy-driven workforce solutions continue to develop while remaining true to the company’s founding ideals and values of ensuring people are the KEY to our success!
